Luke Garrison is a hometown hero, a member of the National Guard ready to deploy again. Strong, sweet, and sexy, he doesn't have a girlfriend and doesn't want one. When the wildly beautiful Harper stumbles into his life, though, he realizes that she's the perfect decoy. A fake girlfriend to keep his family off his back until he's out on another mission.

So what if a single bite of her lip sends his mind to wicked places? He can control himself. Can't he?

Harper was on her way to starting a new life...again. But something about Luke makes her want to settle down in this small town and make Luke's house a home. When his arms wrap around her like steel, she finally knows what it's like to feel safe. Protected.

One night of sleeping in the same bed turns into something much, much more, and soon Luke can't keep his mind off Harper's wide gray eyes, or his hands off of her luscious curves. He never thought he'd feel this way about a woman again. But he knows that he can't tell her the truth about his dark past, and she can't reveal to him what she's running from.

Anyway, this isn't a real relationship. It's only for a month. Only pretend. Until it isn't....

Solid 4.5 stars for me. I'm not going to repeat a synopsis because others have done that. I'll cut to the chase of what matters to me in a review. Heat: well done, and quite hot. Not erotic, but the author didn’t leave a whole lot to the reader’s imagination once Harper and Luke went at it. Characters: well developed and interesting. This was not only true of our heroine, Harper, and her hero, Luke but of many of the secondary characters including Sophie, Aldo, James, Joni and others. These were people that you could (largely) relate to. The cute meet: not so cute but awesome in its own right, and quite funny. Loved it and it allowed the reader to know instantly what kind of person Harper is. Profanity: an f-bomb here or there but nothing outrageous. Suspense: not a lot, but kudos to the author for holding back a major piece of intel on Luke until well into the book and into his relationship with Harper. We needed a twist and that was it. Angst: was happily absent until towards the end.

I really, really liked Harper and I loved how her story developed with Luke. <Incredibly minor spoiler>: I love that the first time they were in bed, they went to sleep. It made me smile. <Spoiler over. >These are two good people, well matched. Someone always makes a really, really stupid move in these books and this one was no exception. I shook my head as it happened but I wasn’t totally surprised. My one critique is that it was a bit longer than it needed to be. Although I read every word, there were a few parts that could/should have been scrapped as not really contributing to the story. There are a couple of strong backstories that are quite interesting. Biggest joy for me was reading the emails between Harper and Luke while he was away. There really is a lot in this book that will bring a smile to your face.

As soon as I finished this one I went looking for my next Lucy Score. Unfortunately, the only one I saw was about a billionaire and I just can’t force myself to read a book about someone I can’t relate to. Oh well. Back to this one, do yourself a favor and read it!

I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about this book!

It may very possibly be my favorite book of 2015

To me-this book was LONG, and in all honesty- long books usually bore me. Lately I can't seem to read sequals because there are just so many books out there that I want to read, so I just move on.
Every moment of this book kept me interested

It was like a 6 year sitcom rolled into one fantastic novel! It was brilliant!

I only wanted to protect you...

What I really loved about "Pretend You're Mine" is that every time I would guess what would happen, I would be wrong. SO many situations could have been cliched, and they weren't.
And the sex scenes......wooooweeee

So if you're looking to laugh, cry & swoon READ THIS BOOK!
Overall, this was a pretty good read, although I did have some issues with it. I enjoyed reading how Luke and Harper met. I liked the dialogue between the two, throughout much of the entire book, and the author did not bore with long, drawn out descriptive details, like some other authors I've read do. Harper was definitely likable enough, and Luke absolutely was too. Nice looking, of course, very sexy, and very nice. My issues with the book were these...One, the 'pretend' girlfriend scheme...while I realize the author had to get these two together somehow, that this girl blew into town one night and then the next day, without knowing thing one about her, Luke is parading her around as his live-in girlfriend...I mean, this is a town where everyone knows what everyone else had for breakfast, and he manages to pull this off in front of his family, with no hitches...Two, Harper was just too damn perfect and agreeable...I mean, even when Luke said hurtful things and tried to push her away, she took it all on the chin and kept trying to win him over, so there just wasn't enough conflict there...she made it too easy for him, and was too easy for him...Three, when Luke is deployed overseas for 6 months, the pages were filled with nothing but Harper running around town being everyone's best friend...I got a little bored here and began skimming through those pages because Luke wasn't there...and there were a lot of those pages (this is a very long book)...I did, however, enjoy the email exchanges and video chats the two shared while he was gone...they did have a good camaraderie...and finally, while they get their HEA after one final shove (this time, she actually goes), I didn't find the way he wins her back to be exactly...sexy (and he was very sexy throughout most of this read)...and, once again, she made it too easy for him. But even with all that said,it was still worth a read. Because even with those things I didn't care about it, it is, like I said, a very long book and there are a lot of good parts to the story.
